Metro Manila, Philippines — The Department of Health on Monday reported 14,640 new COVID-19 cases from July 11 to 17, a 44% increase from the previous week.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH noted a daily average of 2,091 new infections during the period and the highest since Feb. 18.

The department also verified one death that occurred in October 2021. No new deaths were recorded from July 4 to 17.

Among the new infections, 35 are severe and critical cases, while 589 critical infections are currently admitted to hospitals.

Latest DOH data also showed over 71.3 million Filipinos have so far completed their primary COVID-19 shots, which is 91.32% of the target population. Immunization among the elderly is at 77.81%, it added.

More than 15 million individuals have received their first booster shot, the DOH also said.

Meanwhile, the department also reported an additional 2,560 new COVID-19 cases on Monday alone. This brought total infections to over 3.733 million, the DOH COVID-19 tracker showed.

The number of currently ill patients also climbed to 19,873, it added.

Recoveries were now at over 3.652 million, while the death toll stood at 60,641, the DOH said.
