The Philippines ranked 23rd in the top 50 world’s best cuisines list released by the Croatia-based food encyclopedia Taste Atlas.
Among the country’s best rated food are pancit, lechon (roasted pig), sisig, adobo, sinigang, kaldereta, kare-kare, tapa and tortang talong (eggplant omelet).Leche flan and sorbetes are also in the list of popular food.
The list was made based on audience votes.
Italian cuisine topped the list, with parmigiano Reggiano, prosciutto Toscano, nduja, risotto ai fungi porcino and pesto Genovese among the top rated dishes.It was followed by Greece, Spain, Japan, India, Mexico, Turkey, United States, France and Peru.
In its website, Taste Atlas listed Japan’s Karē as the world’s top dish.
Also in the top 10 best traditional dishes are Brazil’s Picanha, Portugal’s amêijoas a bulhão pato, China’s tangbao and guotie (dumplings), Thailand’s phanaeng curry, Peru’s ceviche mixto, Iran’s ghormeh sabzi, Turkey’s cag kebabi (lamb/mutton dish) and Peru’s pollo a la brasa (chicken dish).
The Philippines’ inasal na manok (grilled chicken) ranked 35th.
