PHILIPPINES— Presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte-Carpio topped the National Election Tracker Survey of Publicus Asia conducted on February 11 to 16.

Fifty-two percent of the survey respondents picked Marcos as their choice for president, giving him a 30 percentage points lead over second-placer Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo.

Compared to Publicus’ survey in December 2021, there was no change in voter preference for Marcos, while Robredo moved up by 2 percent.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso had 9 percent, followed by Senators Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao with 3 percent each and labor leader Leodegario “Ka Leody” de Guzman with 1 percent.

Preference for Domagoso was up by 1 percent, while that for Pacquiao and Lacson was virtually unchanged from the December survey.

Nine percent of the respondents said they were undecided.

In the vice-presidential race, Duterte-Carpio was preferred by 54 percent of the respondents, a 40 percentage points lead over Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

Preference for the Davao City mayor dropped by 1 percent from the December figure, while Pangilinan gained 4 percent.

Dr. Willie Ong placed third with 13 percent, a 2-percent increase, while Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto 3rd dropped by 2 percent after being preferred by 9 percent of the respondents.

Buhay party-list Rep. Jose “Lito” Atienza rounded up the top six bets for the vice-presidential derby, earning 1 percent.

Nine percent of the respondents were undecided about their vice-presidential candidate.

Publicus Asia polled 1,500 registered voters for the survey. It said it used a purposive sampling method where respondents were randomly selected from a research pool of 200,000 Filipinos maintained by Purespectrum, a Singapore office of US-based market research and insights platform.
