ILIGAN CITY – Two Philippine Army augmentation battalions were deployed Monday to help secure 15 municipalities in Maguindanao del Sur and three towns in Maguindanao del Norte, an official said.
Brig. Gen. Gremel B. Brual, commander of the 601st Infantry ” Unifier” Brigade, told the Inquirer the deployment involves the 75th Infantry Battalion (IB) from the 4th Infantry Division (ID) and the 67th IB from the 10th ID.
He noted the Commission on Elections (Comelec) deputized their brigade to help ensure that the historic parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Sept. 14 will be safe, secure, and peaceful.
Brual urged Bangsamoro voters to exercise their rights of suffrage and freely choose their own leaders.
