Metro Manila, Philippines— President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders’ meeting in the United States in November 2023, the Philippine ambassador to the US said on Thursday.
“President Marcos will be coming in November for the APEC meeting in the West Coast. I am confirming that President Marcos will be attending together with all the leaders who have been invited to APEC,” Ambassador Jose Manuel Romualdez told CNN Philippines.
Romualdez said Marcos is expected to meet with American business groups to discuss possible investments in the country. By then, Romualdez said the government would be “ready to show the economic reforms and economic programs” to entice investors.
The summit will be held on the week of Nov. 12 in San Francisco, California, US Vice President Kamala Harris earlier announced. As the host country, the US said it will work with APEC economies to make new sustainability and decarbonization commitments.
Thailand hosted this year’s APEC meeting held in November, with Marcos citing climate change as the “overarching” concern among world leaders.
