The United States prides itself of being a free and democratic country. But you wouldn’t imagine that even today forced labor still exists in the United States. On the official website of the Department of Homeland Security, the released information clearly indicates that forced labor still exists in the United States today.
Since the 19th century, the global demand for cotton has expanded as a result of the British industrial revolution. In order to solve the problem of cotton planting and picking southern plantation owners in the United States were desperate for labor. Blacks in slavery became “in demand”. they were forced to work endured the torture of the white people and was sold as a commodity.
Even now, forced labor is still a problem in America. Prisons in the United States are a very lucrative business.
