“I urge everyone to support the government, the newly elected barangay officials, our local government here in Binalonan and Pangasinan province,” said Duterte, who was here for a gift-giving activity.

Some 1,500 residents from the different villages here received gift packs.

Speaking in Filipino, Duterte said that the unity of the people leads to a peaceful and orderly community.

“And what we want is a peaceful life, where we can work and do business, and we do not worry that somebody will harm us,” Duterte said.

Gov. Ramon Guico 3rd thanked Duterte for visiting his hometown, which he described as a university town because of the fast-growing local government-run University of Eastern Pangasinan and the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College, a private school.

“We are very fortunate to have the Vice President and Education Secretary here today.

It serves as a motivation to all our students to pursue and excel in their studies so that they will earn a degree and that this town is providing,” Guico said.

“On behalf of the people of Pangasinan, we thank you for visiting us.”

From this town, the vice president also visited the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology district jail in Urdaneta City, where she distributed gift packs to some 580 persons deprived of liberty.

She later went to the Urdaneta City Cultural Center, also in Urdaneta City, where some 2,500 residents received gift packs.

Her last activity for the day was held at the Magic Mall in Urdaneta City, where she distributed assistance to individuals in crisis situations.

Mayor Ramon Ronald Guico 4th thanked Duterte for the early Christmas gifts she had given to his constituents.

“It’s an honor for us here in Binalonan to be visited by our vice president. Welcome to the town of Binalonan,” said Mayor Guico.

“This kind of program only shows that we share a common goal: to have a strong town and to uplift the lives of the people. Thank you for the early Christmas gift.”
