MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Hall compound was cleared of any explosives after authorities conducted a security sweep following an alleged bomb threat received Thursday night.
In a statement late Thursday night, the Quezon City government said it received the threat through a message sent to its official Facebook page from an individual whose identity was not disclosed.
“As part of security protocols, authorities immediately conducted sweeping, paneling and inspection inside the Quezon City Hall compound and all its buildings, the statement said.
“Sa isinagawang pagsusuri, wala namang nakitang kahina-hinalang bagay o sitwasyon sa lugar,” it noted.
(In the sweeping conducted, no suspicious items or situations were found.)
Nonetheless, the city government assured that the Quezon City Police District and the Philippine National Police–Anti-Cybercrime Group were now tracing the origin of the supposed threat.
The city government said those responsible would be held accountable and warned the public against making bomb threats as a joke or using them to cause fear.
It also urged residents with information about the incident to report it to authorities or through the city’s Helpline 122.
