THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said they have wrapped up investigation on the death of a mother and her two young sons whose bodies were found last Thursday, Aug. 20, in a remote area in San Rafael, Bulacan.
During a press briefing at Camp Crame, PNP spokesman Col. Allen Rae Co said the probe conducted by the Region 3 police under Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez had been completed and the report submitted to PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. and to the family of the victims.
Co said further details were being withheld upon request of the family.
Furthermore, Co also said that the identity of a suspect or person of interest in the case was submitted to Nartatez.
“We are investigating and the report has already been submitted to the chief PNP and also to the family, and the wishes of the family are for their privacy especially in this time of grief,” he said.
Mendez ordered a thorough investigation of the murder of the woman and her two sons whose bodies bore gunshot wound and were discovered inside a vehicle in Barangay Talacsan, San Rafael.
Mendez said the probers retrieved a 9mm handgun, two spent cartridges and a slug inside the car. The evidence were turned over to forensic examiners still need to determine whether the same gun was used in the killings.
The victims were identified as a 31-year-old mother, while the children were 9 and 4 years old, residents of Baliwag City, Bulacan.
The woman’s husband said he last saw his children at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
“We now have leads and a person of interest, but we are still investigating the incident. We are waiting for the forensic examination results,” Mendez said.
