Since 2013, the Philippines has always been nominated for the “World’s Leading Beach Destination” title in the annual World Travel Awards. But we’ve lost to Turks and Caicos, Maldives, Galapagos, Jamaica, and Portugal in the last decade. This year, however, our archipelago of more than 7,000 islands is finally hailed as the World’s Leading Beach Destination at the World Travel Awards’ Grand Final Gala Ceremony held on November 11 in Muscat, Oman. On top of this, the Philippines is also recognized as the World’s Best Diving Destination for the fourth time in a row.

Here are the other World Travel Awards of tourism industry players in the Philippines:

  • City of Dreams, Manila as World’s Leading Casino Resort 2022
  • Amanpulo as World’s Leading Dive Resort 2022
  • Ascott Bonifacio Global City as World’s Leading Serviced Apartments 2022

During the regional awarding on September 7 in Ho Chi Minh, the Philippines was recognized as Asia’s Leading Beach Destination (for the sixth time) and Asia’s Leading Dive Destination (for the fourth time).

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 “to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.” It works through nomination and votation by “qualified executives working within travel and tourism and the consumer travel buyer.”
