Bagong Pilipinas: Better govt services, big-ticket projects
More than 200,000 people were expected to join today’s inaugural rally of “Bagong Pilipinas” governance brand led by President Marcos at the Quirino Grandstand, the Presidential Communications Office said on Saturday.
PCO Undersecretary Gerald Baria said “big and long-term” projects will be rolled out by February, adding that “Bagong Pilipinas” is more than just a branding but a commitment to improve the lot of Filipinos
“We will pursue big projects because these really benefit the people…This is like a declaration of commitment from the Philippine bureaucracy to elevate government services to reach our goal of Bagong Pilipinas,” Baria said.
A coalition of businessmen, civic leaders and employers have likewise committed to support the initiative aimed at shoring up the economy.
Led by Jose Lina, the Buklod Bayani Coalition (BBC) entered into a memorandum of agreement with Special Assistant for Investment and Economic Affairs Secretary Frederick Go and the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to help the government in the delivery of services to the public.
“In the aspect of Ease of Doing Business and in patient delivery of government services, the Buklod Bayani coalition shall mobilize a nationwide network to assist ARTA in ensuring that doing business in the Philippines becomes easier and that government delivery of services is efficient,” Lina said.
PCO Director Cris Villonco said over 200,000 people are expected to participate in the inaugural rally.
“The President said we need to make this big, we need to make this loud, we need to spread this as fast as possible because we deserve this. We need this and we need everybody’s help,” she said
“Everybody is on board with this, so, whether it be the government, whether it be the private citizen, the public, everyone has to know what this is all about and why we are doing it because again, this is not about breakthrough projects. We are talking about empowering Filipinos at its very core,” Villonco added.
