There have been another 14 deaths of people with Covid-19 in New Zealand, as well as a further 5535 new community cases.
The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers has continued to fall at 8563, down from 8703 yesterday and 9847 this time last week.
In today’s statement, the Ministry of Health said there were 720 people in hospital, down from 759 yesterday, although the number of people in ICU increased by two to 21. The average age of people in hospital was 66.
All of the 14 deaths reported today occurred in the past four days and all of them were aged over 80. Eleven were women and three were men.
Three were from Auckland region, three were from Waikato, four were from Hawke’s Bay, one was from Taranaki, one was from MidCentral, one was from Wellington region, one was from Southern.
There have now been 1990 deaths of people with Covid-19 in New Zealand.
The ministry said 118 of the new cases have recently travelled overseas.
There were 22 deaths and another 7746 cases of the coronavirus reported yesterday.
New Zealand has now recorded a total of 1,551,939 cases of Covid-19.
