MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila is now at low risk for COVID-19 transmission as its reproduction number and other key coronavirus figures have decreased recently, Dr. Guido David, an OCTA Research fellow, said in a Twitter post on Wednesday.
“As predicted two weeks ago, NCR improves to low risk as of February 9,” David said in his tweet.
By Wednesday, Metro Manila’s reproduction decreased from the previous week’s 0.41 to 0.25, its positivity rate from 15 percent to 9.1 percent, its average daily attack rate (ADAE) from 17.83 to 6.67.
ADAR refers to the average number of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 individuals.
The seven-day average from Feb. 3 to 9 in Metro Manila (also referred to as the National Capital Region or NCR) was also much lower compared to last week, down from 2, 525 to 945 average cases.
Metro Manila is currently under Alert Level 2 until Feb. 15.
The Department of Health earlier recorded 3,651 new cases of COVID-19 nationwide, the second time the country recorded less than 5,000 cases since the latest surge caused by the Omicron variant.
Active COVID-19 cases nationwide are now down from 3,623,176 to 96,326.
