Manila’s second Hopia Day draws 23 businesses, including 7 local hopia makers, to Binondo on Oct. 24 and 25 to celebrate Filipino Chinese heritage.

The second Manila Hopia Day took place at Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz in Binondo on Oct. 24 and 25, 2026, celebrating the culture and heritage of the Filipino Chinese community.

Twenty-three businesses took part, including seven Manila-based hopia makers. These include Eng Bee Tin, Liberty, Baker’s Fair, Ho-Land, Eng Ho, Polland and Kim Chong Tin Hopia. Restaurants and shops offering beverages and snacks also joined.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said hopia is more than a traditional pastry beloved by the public, describing it as an important symbol of the culture, history and heritage of the Filipino Chinese community.

He said the tradition deserves to be preserved and passed on to the next generation.

The event coincided with Moreno’s 52nd birthday on Oct. 24.

Manila District 3 councilor Jefferson Lau, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) president Victor Lim and other community leaders and members joined the celebration.
