MANILA, Philippines — The train lines of Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) resumed full operations on Wednesday after a lightning struck and severed a catenary wire at its Antipolo station on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).
The LRT 2 was on limited operations due to the incident where train operations were limited between Recto Station and Santolan Station and vice versa, as of 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
This left train passengers stranded in train stations as they looked for alternative modes of transportation.
In an advisory on late Tuesday evening, the LRTA said that the affected catenary wire had been fixed.
“Bukas, magbabalik sa full line operations ang LRT-2. Ang unang biyahe ng tren mula Antipolo at Recto ay magsisimula sa ganap na 5:00 ng umaga,” the LRTA wrote in an advisory.
(We will resume full operations of the LRT-2 tomorrow. The first train operation from Antipolo and Recto will depart at 5 a.m.)
