At 2:15 AM today, Nov 3, 2020, troops of Joint Task Force – Sulu intercepted and killed seven (7) Abu Sayyaf Group kidnappers aboard a twin-engine speed boat at the open waters of Sulu sea near Sulare Island, Parang, Sulu.
JTF- Sulu Commander MGen William N Gonzales orchestrated the joint operations utilizing the Augusta Attack Helicopter of the Philippine Air Force and the Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) of the Philippine Navy with the Scout Rangers and Special Forces on board.
Reportedly killed were Madsmar Sawadjaan (brother of infamous bomber Mundi Sawadjaan), Mannul Sawadjaan @Abu Amara (declared to replace deceased ASG senior leader Hajan Sawadjaan as emir), and five (5) other yet to be identified. Retrieval operations of the sank speed boat and cadavers of ASG members are currently ongoing. — JTF Sulu
