MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives swiftly concluded its scheduled deliberations on the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) proposed 2027 budget without a single query raised, a markedly calmer approach than the more contentious sessions of previous years.
ACT Teachers Rep. Antonio Tinio said no lawmakers from the House minority bloc lined up to question Vice President Sara Duterte’s spending plan for next year at the House plenary and moved for the floor to terminate further discussions.
The majority bloc agreed to the motion, ending the floor’s planned budget talks within a minute after opening discussions.
The OVP requested P785.20 million in funding for 2027, 11.69 percent lower than its P889.23 million budget for this year.
