Former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BS) governor Felipe M. Medalla was the highest paid government official as of Dec. 31, 2022 with P34.17 million in salaries and allowances.

Finance Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno was at second place with P28.78 million based on the 2022 Report on Salaries and Allowance (ROSA) released by the Commission on Audit (COA).

The report stated that Diokno, who used to hold Medalla’s position, received P41.811 million in 2021. The amount was more than double than what he received in 2020 with P19.79 million.

It also stated that the third to the 14th slot in the ROSA were from the BSP.  They were Monetary Board members Anita Linda R. Aquino and Victor Bruce J. Tolentino, Deputy Governor Chuchi G. Fonacier, Members Peter B. Favila and Antonio S. Abacan Jr., Senior Assistant Governor Elmore O. Capule, Deputy Governor Francisco G. Dakila Jr., Senior Assistant Governor Edna C. Villa, Ma. Ramona Gertrudes Tiangco Santiago, Iluminada Tapiru Sicat, Johnny Noe Estanislao Ravalo, and Eduardo Gono Bobier.

Several members of the judiciary also made it to the top 50 posts.  They are Supreme Court (SC) Senior Associate Justice Marvic Mario Victor F. Leonen, Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmunso, Associate Justices Ramon Paul L. Hernando, Amy Lazaro Javier, Henri Jean Paul B. Inting, Alfredo Banjamin S. Caguioa, Rodil V. Zalameda, Japar B. Dimaampao, Samuel H. Gaerlan, Mario V. Lopez, Jhosep Y. Lopez, Ricardo R. Rosario and Jose Midas P. Marquez.
