Four ambassadors made courtesy calls on Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte on Monday to discuss continued relations while also exploring future cooperation between the Philippines and their respective countries.
They were F.M. Borhan Uddin of Bangladesh, Ahmed Shehabeldin of Egypt, Ilan Fluss of Israel and Hae Kyong Yu of Australia.
Uddin briefed Duterte on recent developments in Bangladesh’s economy, trade and investments, and education sector, while also highlighting the historic relationship between the country and the Philippines, one of the first countries to recognize their independence in 1971.
Meanwhile, Duterte told Shehabeldin about the challenges confronting the Philippine education sector and its future direction.
The Egyptian envoy told Duterte his recommendations, particularly on the importance of information technology, to address the issue of education access in the country.
Fluss, meanwhile, told Duterte about the Israeli government’s initiatives on agriculture, water management, technology and innovation, and national defense, especially in Mindanao.
He also hoped to further strengthen bilateral relations between the Philippines and Israel.
Yu, on the other hand, told Duterte of her intent to work closely with the Philippines with education as one of its priority pillars.
