Five cities in northern Metro Manila suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools as of 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, due to rains brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Valenzuela City was the first to declare a suspension of face-to-face classes, followed by Quezon City, Caloocan City, Navotas City and Malabon City.
The latter four cities directed schools to shift to alternative delivery modes to allow students to continue their lessons remotely.
“It is up to schools and educational institutions to decide which alternative mode of learning to implement after the suspension of classes,” the Valenzuela City government said.
The class suspensions were announced as rains from the southwest monsoon continued to affect parts of Metro Manila.
Local governments advised schools and residents to monitor official announcements for further updates on weather conditions and class suspensions.
