METRO Manila wage earners will receive additional pay for work performed during the Nov. 16 to 18 special non-working days in connection with the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Wednesday.

Under Labor Advisory No. 16, wage earners who do not work on those days will generally get no pay unless company policy, practice or a collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise.

The advisory was signed by Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino on Sept. 28.

Employees who work on the special non-working days will receive 130 percent of their basic wage for the first eight hours. Overtime work will be paid at an additional 30 percent of the employee’s hourly rate based on the special-day rate.
