Deputy Prime Minister Grant Robertson and Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay are providing a media update on the current Covid-19 outbreak.

Watch the government Covid-19 update here:

From today, truck drivers and others crossing the Auckland alert level border must show they’ve had a Covid-19 test within the past seven days.

The new rule kicked in as Associate Minister of Health Peeni Henare confirmed to Morning Report that a truck driver’s positive Covid-19 test result came through after surveillance testing this week.

Contact tracing linked an Auckland truck driver to the existing outbreak. He delivered supermarket supplies to Cambridge, Hamilton and Tauranga and four new areas of interest were announced by the Health Ministry this morning, three of those in Tauranga.
