DAVAO CITY , PHILIPPINES— Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) as re-electionist for mayor in the city Saturday, October 2.

Mayor Sara arrived at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) 11 office on Ramon Magsaysay Avenue on Saturday at around 4:15 p.m. to formally file her certificate of candidacy.

Should the incumbent city mayor win the post in 2022 elections, it will be her fourth non-consecutive term, having been mayor for the first time from 2010 to 2013.

“I have been honored with the gift of trust and respect of many of our fellow Filipinos. Thank you to everyone who have expressed their support. Many of you do not know me and yet you carry me over your shoulders,” Mayor Sara said in her Facebook page.

She added that, “Like the other millions of Filipinos, I share with you the same goal of living a peaceful and prosperous life in our country, today and in the many years to come. I call on everyone to work together for an honest, orderly, and credible elections in May 2022.”

Her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, earlier announced his retirement from politics after refusing the nomination of PDP-Laban to run for the vice presidency next year.

Supporters of Mayor Sara are still hoping that she will change her mind and will run for presidency in the 2022 elections.
