The Department of Education (DepEd) has formalized a strategic partnership with OceanX Education, Inc., a US-based ocean exploration initiative, to develop immersive ocean education offerings and foster ocean leadership among Filipino students.

Under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), DepEd and OceanX will collaborate on science expeditions that utilize the OceanXplorer, the world’s most advanced research and media vessel.

As part of its 2025 science research expedition, OceanX will conduct in-port activations to provide Filipino learners with hands-on experience and valuable insights into the work of marine scientists involved in ocean conservation and research.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara toured the OceanXplorer at Manila South Port last year.

Beyond its collaboration with DepEd, OceanX also offers two unique programs for Filipino youth—the Young Explorers Program and the Early Career Explorers Program.

These initiatives are designed to provide immersive, multi-day experiences in marine science, ocean conservation, and digital media storytelling.

The Young Explorers Program is tailored for learners aged 18 to 24. It offers workshops, hands-on activities, and independent study to build foundational knowledge and skills in ocean science, marine operations, and digital media.

Meanwhile, the Early Career Explorers Program, for early-career professionals over 25, provides opportunities for participants with less than five years of professional experience to collaborate with experts in the field, deepen their knowledge of ocean exploration, and strengthen their impact on ocean advocacy.

DepEd said applications for both programs are now open.
