The Philippines remains a very low risk for Covid-19, OCTA Research said on Monday.
OCTA cited data from the Johns Hopkins University, Our World in Data and Worldometer showing that as of March 18, the country averages 527 Covid-19 cases a day, 22 percent lower than the average the week before.
The country’s average daily attack rate (ADAR) is 0.47, OCTA said. ADAR is the seven-day average number of new Covid-19 cases per day per 100,000 population.
Four other countries in East Asia — Timor-Leste, Taiwan, Cambodia and China — are also classified as very low risk.
OCTA said China is experiencing a Covid-19 surge along with South Korea, Vietnam and Laos, with cases up by 362 percent.
South Korea recorded the highest seven-day average with 404,666, a 42-percent growth rate.
Vietnam had a seven-day average of 274,025 cases with a growth rate of 38 percent and an ADAR of 281.52.
Although Laos only had a seven-day average of 733 cases, it posted a 185-percent infection rate.
Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei also recorded severe ADAR with 349.10, 76.38, 192.31 and 482.60, respectively.
Japan and Thailand recorded very high ADARs with 39.68 and 34.8, respectively.
Covid-19 cases in Timor-Leste dropped by 67 percent and by 50 percent in Myanmar.
Indonesia is at moderate risk with 4.34 ADAR although it posted a one-week average of 12,086 cases.
