“Ayokong mag-comment doon sa (I don’t want to comment on the) disqualification case. But if you are– if you were to ask me, mas gusto ko talunin siya sa eleksyon para matapos na ito (I’d rather beat him in the election to finally put an end on this),” Robredo said on a CNN Philippines interview.
The aspiring president said she wants to finally put an end on Marcos’ narrative that she cheated in the 2016 national elections when they were both running for Vice President.
“Ang daming naniniwala na dinaya ko siya, kahit ilang beses pa ako nanalo sa Supreme Court, ito yung narrative na pinu-push niya (Many believed that I cheated in the elections no matter how many times I won in the Supreme Court, this is the narrative that he is pushing),” Robredo said.
“So, kailangan talagang talunin siya sa susunod na eleksyon para once and for all, mahinto na yung ginagawa niya na pagpapapaniwala sa tao noong narrative na gusto niya i-push (So, I need to defeat him in the elections so that once and for all, the narrative he is pushing to the people will finally stop),” she added.
The Vice President also believes she will “most definitely” be the last woman standing again in the race to the presidency.
“Most definitely… Unang-una, I am the only woman candidate again just as I was when I ran for the vice presidency and number two, again my record will speak for itself. Ang dami kong pinagdaanan (I’ve been through a lot) in the last five and a half years that I was Vice President and nakatayo pa din ako ngayon at lumalaban pa din (and I’m still standing and fighting),” Robredo said when she was asked if she could say again the same iconic phrase she used during the 2016 Vice Presidential debate.
However, this time, she stressed, that they need to double their effort in facing the more difficult challenges on social media during the campaign period.
“Because alam natin sobrang dami nang fake accounts ngayon (we know that there are a lot of fake accounts now), alam natin na (we know that) social media is working on algorithms so nasa-saturate talaga yung mga distribution channels na ‘yung tao hindi na nabibigyan ng (so the distribution channels are being saturated that people are not given) enough opportunity to really know what is right and what is wrong. So, kailangan doble talaga yung (So, we need to double our) effort to make it known to people what is true and what is not,” she said.
