MANILA — Around 3,000 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel have been deployed at various ports to ensure the safety of passengers returning for work after the Holy Week break.
In a statement, the PCG said 2,688 frontline personnel were dispatched to its 15 districts offices to inspect vessels and motorized boats.
The PCG said it monitored 8,749 outbound passengers and 7,719 inbound passengers yesterday.
Early last week, more than 90,000 inbound and outbound passengers were monitored at various ports.
“The PCG placed its districts, stations and substations on heightened alert to manage the influx of port passengers during the Holy Week from April 2 to 10. It will also cover the length of summer vacation in anticipation of local tourists traveling by sea for recreational purposes until May 31,” the PCG said.
The PCG urged travelers to coordinate with its office through its official Facebook page or its public affairs office hotline at 0927-560-7729 for inquiries and other concerns.
