There are reports Monday that the Jewish community is under attack in Vienna, Austria and that a synagogue and kosher restaurant have been targeted. 7 individuals have been killed by 3 attackers, according to reports.
Vienna police have confirmed that at 8:00 p.m. shots were fired by several suspects carrying rifles. The attacks took place at 6 different locations, according to police. One person died, several are injured, including a police officer and one suspect was shot and killed by police.
Antisemitism watchdog StopAntisemitism.org called the attack “well orchestrated…. with military grade weapons.”
The public has been advised to stay inside. Jews have also been told to remove Kippot (skullcaps) and any other public displays of faith.
There are also reports of a hostage situation.
